For My Sister

from the same vine as all are we
you work to cut the tie
but the vine remains as it always will
and we love you still the same

your words brand soft flesh
scars forever you know
hearts do break too
and we love you still the same

you deny us our flesh
thinking justice served
grandchildren, cousins, all
and we love you still the same

someday they’ll come looking
wondering why
and what will you tell them then
that we love you still the same

someday you will find
this life far gone
and what will you have learned
that we love you still the same

One Response to For My Sister

  1. I miss her. I miss them all so much, the family she keeps from us. We feel incomplete. But we go on because, no matter what, they are with us and we love them.
